The winter of 2010 will have sports-loving fans around the globe focused on Vancouver and the Winter Olympic Games. In the heart of all the excitement, Whistler and Blackcomb mountains – our continent’s greatest vertical-rise mountains – will host several events between the two peaks.
Thousands of spectators and athletes alike will climb these mountains. And then they’ll effortlessly change peaks. Moving between Whistler and Blackcomb may seem like a tiresome feat, but it won’t be thanks to the dedicated engineering experts of BEHLEN Industries LP and several partners. BEHLEN, a Canadian building solutions company, has been revolutionizing the construction industry with world-class innovative building systems to create magnificent structures in big cities, small towns, and now on mountain peaks.
The mountains’ new PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola will transport people from one peak to the other – and back again – with ease and a great amount of speed. At the top of each mountain, BEHLEN’s stunning gondola terminals provide riders with shelter from inclement weather and comfortably allow for boarding the gondolas. Housed within the terminals is the largest lift hardware that manufacturer Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group has ever built.

These FLEX-SYS projects featured 2 gondola terminals, 1 on the peak of Blackcomb mountian and 2 on the peak of Whistler mountain. Both terminals are similar the great difference being that the Blackcomb terminal includes a maintenance wing. |
