On January 1, 2008, ArcelorMittal Dofasco Inc., our coil supplier introduced a new paint system to replace the 8000+ Series™. They call it Perspectra Series* and it promises to offer many advantages over the old system. With this new paint system we will see improved performance in all geographical areas of North America including better film integrity, reduced colour change and greater chalking resistance.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco Inc.'s plan is to deplete their stock of paint in the 8000+ Series™ and as colours run out, switch to the Perspectra Series*. They have guaranteed that the colours between the two systems have been perfectly matched though they note that the two systems should not be used together on the same project as the performance differs greatly and over time those differences will be more apparent. Behlen will be coordinating coil stock to eliminate any issues with mixing the old 8000+ Series™ with the new Perspectra Series* on any new projects.

How to Specify Perspectra Series*

QC numbers previously used for 8000+ Series™ will continue with only a minor change. For specifying Perspectra Series*, the number ‘1’ should be placed in front of the existing QC number.
