Each year the two associations, representing the Canadian manufacturers of sheet steel building and highway drainage products, select a worthy charity to receive the money. The idea for making an industry charitable donation came about a few years ago when the membership decided to make a support a charity instead of handing our prizes at the annual golf tournament. As one member put it, “I don’t need another company golf shirt”. This program was so well received by the membership that various other fund raising activities are carried out to increase the level of contribution. The industry is glad to help out in this way and encourages other companies or associations to do the same.
