Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute, commonly called the CSSBI, is the national association of companies involved in the structural sheet steel industry. The institute was founded in 1961 and since then has been an influential force in the development of research, building codes and specifications surrounding sheet steel building products.

The Canadian Welding Bureau was formed in 1947 as a Division of the Canadian Standards Association to administer a certification program for companies involved in the welding of steel structures. In 1991, the Bureau was federally incorporated as an independent, not-for-profit, organization in the private sector, to provide certification and registration services to industry.
